Ford Focus Torque Vectoring

Ford announced the 2012 Focus, which will be equipped with 'torque-vectoring technology' to improve control and lateral stability when cornering. "Torque vectoring" has become an industry buzzword, and Ford has shown no bounds in marketing its new technology.

The system "gathers data from vehicle sensors to apply nominal braking force to the wheel with the least amount of traction - generally the one toward the inside of a corner." Differential gearing allows one wheel to turn faster than another in cornering, distributing more torque to the wheel that is rotating at higher speed.

Ford Hybrid In All Models

Ford is coming out with more hybrid tech than more other auto makers. Some of the technology that makes hybrid vehicles so efficient will also be making its way to non-hybrid cars. Ford has recently announced Auto Start-Stop technology, which has been used in gasoline-electric hybrids since 2004, will be introduced in conventional automobiles, crossovers and SUVs in North America beginning in 2012.

Auto Start-Stop automatically turns off a vehicle's gas engine when the vehicle comes to a stop, and then restarts it when the vehicle is ready to move on.
