What to Expect from the 2013 Ford Escape

While Ford has recently confirmed that the 2013 Ford Escape won't be available with a hybrid powertrain; they're continuing to make strides in the reduction of their carbon footprint. The next-gen Escape lineup will get a complete makeover, with sharper styling and more fuel-efficient engines, and even an additional 25 plastic drinking bottles.

That's right. The carpeting in each 2013 Ford Escape will be constructed out of no less than 25 20-oz plastic bottles. With projected unit sales of the Ford Escape, that could add up to as many as four-million plastic bottles rescued from landfills. And it's durable, too. According to Laura Sinclair, a materials engineer at Ford, "The polyester fibers created from pop bottles make up a nonwoven carpet material...you have more fibers running on each other?that helps reduce wear."1

As a bonus, early testing has shown that the more plastic bottles used to make the carpeting, the more durable it is. More bottles equals stronger carpet equals a cleaner environment: it's a win-win-win situation.

The all-new, thoughtfully designed2013 Ford Escape will debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November, with plans to arrive at dealerships such as Bayer Ford, located at 200 E Central Ave, Comanche, TX, midsummer 2012. In the mean time, remember you can still check out the 2012 Ford Escape. Simply stop by our showroom during our regular business hours or contact us via our website to schedule a test drive.
